Farm Facts & products we offer

Life is hectic enough – it can be frustrating just trying to figure out if something is good for you or not. Is it free of junk or not? Do you feel good about eating it or not? Can you trust the source or not?  Uhhgg!

When it comes to clean proteins - we think we can help & want to earn your business.

As you continue to search for a farm you want to trust – I would like to offer you these 4 facts about Land Basket Farm and the foods we raise.

Farm Facts

  • Raised on Pasture. Period. Everything we produce really is pasture or forest raised because we believe in the power of pastured farming practices and the health benefits people gain by eating the animals those practices produce. The body of literature surrounding the benefits of pasture raised / grass fed animal products is vast.
  • Non- GMO. Period. All Land Basket Farm Products are Non-GMO fed from  Resaca Sun Mill in Georgia. Our feed line is not soy free. Non-GMO Corn and Non-GMO soybeans are the energy and proteins components of the feed we use.
  • Free of everything. Period. All our products are free of hormones, steroids, antibiotics, and new vaccines. If an animal gets an antibiotic shot, it is sold in other than retail channels. Our lambs get a tetanus vaccine at birth.
  • Health and Food Safety is # 1. The lens in which we evaluate every product or new idea is through you and your family’s health & safety benefit. Earned trust is a deliberate activity.

What we offer.

  1. Pasture Raised Fresh Eggs. Egg mobiles are converted hay wagons and the girls are moved every 14 days. Non-GMO fed and dedicated guard dogs.
  1. Pasture Raised Chicken. Our meat birds have a dedicated 10-acre river bottom where we also raise hay. We raise birds from April to October. Birds get a new patch of grass daily and are supplementally fed a Non-GMO feed. Dedicated guard dogs.
  1. Pasture Raised Turkey. Our river bottom also supports a round of Turkeys for Thanksgiving. Also, Non- GMO fed.
  1. Forest Raised Pork. Our farm has several wood lots, mostly hardwoods. Our pigs are rotated to new forest paddocks every 2 weeks. We raise hogs almost year-round. Free choice fed a non-GMO feed (and lots of acorns too)
  1. Grass Fed lambs. Lambs are born in the winter and go to pasture with their moms in the spring. They are harvested in the late fall over a 2 month period. As we approach harvest, lambs move to their own pastures and do get a little Non-GMO feed. We do this to get the animals used to coming to us which makes trailer day less stressful.

Partner Farms and other people we have faith in.

In the direct sell farm business, we want to provide families with good clean proteins, but we cannot do everything, so we seek partners with shared values.

Kipland Ridge Black Angus Beef.  For years we have sought a Beef partner we have confidence in.  3 years ago, we started buying quarter shares of beef from Kelly and Matt Goble in Talbott Tn for our own family freezer. We have always been happy with the quality and packaging. Last year we shook hands on a partnering trial run. We buy her animals and offer them to our clients – helping us and our clients with another protein choice. Kelly has scrupulous protocols for her animals and although it is not 100% grass fed like some folks want, we love it and recommend it to those who want a little grain finishing in their beef.

Field of Dreams Farm in Franklin Tn.

We have been friends with the Simpsons since we met them at a Pick Tennessee conference a few years ago. Chris farms regeneratively like we do. Chris’ daughter Mellissa fishes commercially for a living and owns a small Seafood Shipping business. Through Melissa – we gain access to wild caught, sushi grade seafood a couple of times a year.

A you go forward in your search for a farm, please know that I am available to you to answer any question you have – big or small.  You can do that via email  or call or text me at 423.202.4924.

Respectfully,

Farmer Kevin
